Finally, a new blog post.
I haven't had the chance to blog for a while. I've been working on some behind the scenes stuff for The VIP Project and I've also been working on some other music projects, which have been great fun.
In VIP Land I've been planning the Visual Impairment Awareness Training for our wonderful artists, with Amy from RNIB Birmingham. Amy has been such a great support throughout this project. From the day I decided to put it together, she's been right there in my corner. She's ace! Anyway, we spent a snowy morning planning the session and I got to try some SimSpecs, which simulate having different visual impairments. It was a really interesting & a humbling experience. I felt like I got a glimpse into other VIP's world. Sight loss is such a complex issue. There is such a wide spectrum of conditions & impact. People may have the same sight condition, but have completely different levels of vision. After trying all the SimSpecs on, it made me realise how lucky I am. I have 10% remaining vision in my left eye & about 40-50% in my right. A friend who is completely blind said to me "To someone who is fully sighted, you have hardly any vision & to someone who is completely blind, you have loads of vision."
In other news...
I did a radio interview for WCR 101.8fm (Wolverhampton Community Radio). I was on a show called Inside Tracks. I had to choose 10 songs that meant something to me throughout my life and talk about the songs, my life & The VIP Project. I was interviewed by one of the loveliest gentlemen I have ever met Pete Whitehouse. The lovely gene has been passed down to his son. You can check out the interview here:
Hope you enjoy it.
So, that leaves me with a question for you...
If you had to choose 3 songs that have meant something to you throughout your life. What are they & why? Feel free to share stories, links, videos, you choose & either comment on this blog, Facebook, or on Twitter with the hashtag #VIPSongs
I can't wait to hear your songs...
Thanks for reading.
